Zoom has announced a major upgrade to its webinar features, now enabling events with up to one million participants simultaneously. This expansion reflects the platform’s growing role in large-scale virtual events, especially noted for its use in political fundraising efforts, such as those supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign.
With this new capability, Zoom introduces a tiered system for webinar packages, offering various capacities from 10,000 to a staggering one million attendees. These single-use packages are designed to accommodate the needs of organizers planning massive online events.
Zoom’s Chief Product Officer, Smita Hashim, highlighted the new feature’s flexibility:
“Now event organizers have the flexibility and power to host truly interactive experiences on an unprecedented scale and the ability to purchase large single-use webinars.”
The company envisions these high-capacity webinars becoming a staple across diverse fields, including business, entertainment, and public engagements. For example, celebrities and entertainers might use these enhanced capabilities for virtual meet-and-greets and interactive fan events.
