The 26-year-old had to miss the Bristol Street Motors Trophy group game against Barrow due to a painful back and ribcage issue.
Manager Ian Evatt, already dealing with a roster depleted by injuries and international breaks, described the unusual cause of Adeboyejo’s injury. “Victor’s back injury was aggravated by a sneeze,” Evatt told The Bolton News. “He felt a crack in his ribs, which we hope is just a cartilage or muscle issue, but we’ll wait for the scan results to be sure.”
The injury seems to have worsened after a challenge during a game against Charlton, but it was the sneeze that intensified the pain. Evatt humorously noted, “Victor is such a powerful player that even his sneezes are strong. I might have to reassess how I look at player injuries if sneezing is becoming a problem.”
Despite the setback, Bolton Wanderers secured a 3-2 victory against Barrow. The team is currently 18th in League One, with four points from their first four games of the season.
