A University of Punjab MPhil student has found oil reserves in the old limestone mountains of the Kohistan salt range.
Noman Zeb, from the geology department, with guidance from Dr. Shahid Ghazi, discovered significant oil deposits in the Khajar, Taral, Badshahpur, Kroli, and Sarhi areas, as reported by Daily Naibaat. These reserves are within limestone layers.
Noman Zeb also pointed out that similar oil-rich mountain ranges are in the Potohar Range. He believes that extracting this oil, with government oversight, could help address the country’s power shortage.
