The UAE will kick off its space tourism industry in the third quarter of 2025, with flights starting at Rs45.5 million (UAE Dh600,000). European company EOS-X Space is leading this venture, offering flights from Abu Dhabi and Spain.
EOS-X Space’s CEO, Kemel Kharbachi, announced that their Spaceship One capsules are almost ready. These capsules, which hold up to eight people, will be launched by eco-friendly helium balloons to the edge of space at 40,000 meters. Passengers will experience stunning views of space and Earth during the five-hour trip, unlike the shorter flights offered by other companies.
Unlike other space tourism options that require extensive training and cost around a million dollars, EOS-X Space will provide a week-long personalized experience, including cultural and wellness activities. Prices will range from €150,000 to €200,000 per passenger.
Abu Dhabi will feature the company’s main complex, including a spaceport and hotel on Yas Island, with another planned for Tulum, Mexico, by 2026. The company targets high-net-worth individuals, estimating 20 million potential customers globally.
The space tourism market is projected to exceed $9 billion. EOS-X Space expects revenues of $353 million in the first year and aims for $1.127 billion by 2029, with a planned investment of over $230 million in its Abu Dhabi and Seville facilities.
