Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi today. During the meeting, the President assured unwavering UAE support and committed to investing $10 billion in multiple sectors in Pakistan.
According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting allowed for discussions on bilateral relations, including cooperation in political, economic, social, cultural, and defense sectors.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing existing cooperation and strengthening the strategic partnership, particularly in information technology, renewable energy, and tourism.
He highlighted the government’s efforts to ensure socio-economic stability and build investor confidence in Pakistan. The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the effective implementation of investment cooperation agreements in energy, port operations, wastewater treatment, food security, logistics, minerals, and banking & financial services.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the UAE leadership for hosting 1.8 million Pakistani expatriates and emphasized Pakistan’s significant human resource potential available for various sectors.
Both leaders also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, including regional and global developments. The Prime Minister reiterated his invitation to the UAE President for an official visit to Pakistan, which the President accepted.
Prime Minister Sharif was accompanied by Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi.
