The UAE has introduced a new salary requirement for its Golden Visa program, mandating that eligible professionals must earn a basic monthly salary of Dh30,000 to qualify for long-term residency. This change marks a shift from the previous requirement, where the minimum salary could include allowances.
According to immigration experts and residents who have faced visa rejections, the updated rule specifies that the Dh30,000 must be the basic salary alone, excluding additional allowances such as housing and transport.
Nofisatu Mojidi, a senior manager at Fragomen’s Dubai office, elaborated on the change: “The salary criteria for the UAE Golden Visa have been revised. Previously, under the ‘Scientists & Specialists’ pathway, the required minimum gross salary of Dh30,000 per month could include allowances. Now, applicants must have a basic salary of Dh30,000 per month, with allowances not counted.”
