Two people have died and seven others were injured in Faisalabad when a house in the Shareef Pura neighborhood caught fire due to a laptop battery explosion on Wednesday, according to rescue officials speaking to Geo News.

The fire started on Satyana Road after the laptop battery exploded while charging, causing significant damage to the house. Rescue workers managed to extinguish the flames after some time.

Nine family members, including five children and two women, were rushed to Allied Hospital following the tragic incident, where medical sources confirmed the deaths of a brother and sister due to severe burns. The remaining injured individuals are undergoing treatment, with reports indicating they have sustained burns covering 50% to 60% of their bodies.

Following the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed sorrow over the children’s deaths and extended condolences to the grieving family. She has instructed authorities to ensure the injured receive the best possible medical care.

The Regional Police Officer has ordered an investigation into the incident, and the Faisalabad deputy commissioner has formed a committee to further examine the details surrounding the fire.

In a separate incident, rescue workers in Lahore spent 14 hours putting out a fire at a paper factory in the Sundar Industrial Estate, which involved 25 rescue personnel. This comes in the wake of a recent tragic fire at Sahiwal Teaching Hospital, where 11 infants lost their lives, prompting a comprehensive investigation and disciplinary actions by the chief minister against responsible hospital officials.
