ATTOCK: A tragic attack on a school van in Dheri Kot, Attock, has resulted in the death of two children and injuries to five others, according to rescue officials who spoke with Geo News on Thursday. The assault occurred when gunmen targeted the van, causing chaos and devastation.
The deceased children were identified as a 9-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl. The injured, whose ages range from 5 to 12 years old, have been transported to Asfandyar Bukhari District Hospital Attock for treatment. The children who survived the attack include two 8-year-olds, a 7-year-old, a 12-year-old, and a 4-year-old.
The two girls who died in the attack were named Arwa Fatima and Rameen Shafiq. The incident has deeply shocked the community and prompted a swift response from local authorities.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has requested a detailed report from Rawalpindi Commissioner Abdul Aamer Khattak regarding the attack. CM Maryam has expressed profound sorrow over the deaths and has instructed relevant authorities to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured children.
President Asif Ali Zardari has condemned the attack, calling it “very cruel and shameful,” reflecting the widespread outrage and grief over the incident.
