Turkish Shooter Goes Viral for Cool, Laid-Back Style
A Turkish Olympic shooter went viral for his laid-back style after winning silver in the mixed team 10m air pistol event. Yusuf Dikec, who kept a hand in his pocket and wore standard glasses without any specialized gear, said he was unfazed by his new fame. He and partner Sevval Ilayda Tarhan lost to Serbia in the gold medal match.
Dikec’s relaxed posture drew comparisons to James Bond, with some memes adding a cigarette to his mouth. Speaking to TGRT Haber, he noted his unique technique of shooting with both eyes open, surprising even the referees. He attributed their success to hard work and preparation, emphasizing that “success doesn’t come with your hands in your pockets.”
Some suggested more attention should be given to Tarhan, who also adopted a casual stance but wore headphones and a visor. Turkish Sports Minister Osman Askin Bak congratulated Dikec on social media, sharing a photo of him recreating his “legendary pose.” Dikec and Tarhan celebrated their victory at the Champions Park in Paris on Wednesday.
