Turkey has expanded its visa-free entry program to include Iraqi citizens under the age of 15 and over the age of 50, effective September 1. This change was announced during the fourth session of the Türkiye-Iraq High-Level Security Mechanism.

The decision, which follows extensive negotiations between Turkey and Iraq, was further solidified by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Baghdad earlier this year. The new visa exemption aims to enhance bilateral relations and ease travel for specific groups of Iraqi nationals.

Türkiye’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, revealed the update in a press conference held with Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein.
