TikTok Removes Most Videos Requested by Pakistan Government

  • Deactivates 270 accounts for violating community guidelines

TikTok has been actively working with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to enforce community standards and local regulations. According to its recent transparency report, from July to December 2023, TikTok received 303 requests from the Pakistani government. As a result, 93.5% of reported content was removed.

This collaboration reflects TikTok’s dedication to addressing concerns raised by Pakistani authorities regarding inappropriate or sensitive content on its platform. The report on TikTok’s website states that 12,392 pieces of content were removed for violating community guidelines, and 2,126 pieces were taken down for breaching local laws. In addition, TikTok deactivated 270 accounts for guideline violations and 59 accounts for breaking local laws during this period.

TikTok’s Q4 2023 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report further highlights its robust efforts in content moderation globally, achieving a proactive removal rate of 99.5% for violating content. This approach aims to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all users, including those in Pakistan.
