Three Names Recommended for Appointment of New Supreme Court Judges

The Judicial Commission has decided on 3 names out of 9 for the appointment of new Supreme Court judges. The recommended names include the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, and Judge Justice Shahid Bilal. These names have been sent to the Parliamentary Committee for final approval.

A meeting of the Judicial Commission, chaired by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, was held to consider the appointment of 3 judges for the vacant Supreme Court positions. The names of 9 judges were discussed, including 6 from the Lahore High Court, such as Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed, and 3 from the Sindh High Court, including Chief Justice Aqeel Abbasi.

The Judicial Commission recommended the appointments of Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed of Lahore High Court, Chief Justice Aqeel Abbasi of Sindh High Court, and Justice Shahid Bilal of Lahore High Court to the Supreme Court.

The matter has been forwarded to the Parliamentary Committee for final approval. It is worth noting that out of a total of 17 judges in the Supreme Court, 14 are currently serving, with 3 positions vacant.
