Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is hopeful that the recent agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be Pakistan’s last. During a visit to the Federal Board of Revenue office in Islamabad, he talked about his expectations for the future and the progress in digitizing the department.

Pakistan has just secured a $7 billion loan from the IMF to help stabilize the economy. This loan is part of a 37-month plan aimed at achieving economic stability and growth.

Prime Minister Sharif stressed that this agreement is crucial for Pakistan’s financial recovery. He pointed out that improving tax collection and increasing revenues are key to reducing the country’s dependence on outside financial help.

The visit also highlighted the Federal Board of Revenue’s efforts to modernize its tax system. Sharif commended the progress in digitization, which is expected to make the tax system more efficient, cut down on corruption, and improve revenue collection.

The new IMF deal is a significant step for stabilizing Pakistan’s economy. However, the government is committed to implementing reforms to ensure this will be the last time the country needs such extensive financial aid. The focus on economic reforms and modernization aims to create a stronger, more self-reliant economy for the future.
