Sony has officially announced the PS5 Pro, an upgraded version of its popular PlayStation 5 console, set to launch on November 7. This new model promises enhanced graphics and the capability to handle the most demanding games with higher and more stable frame rates.
However, this added performance comes with a significant price increase. At £699.99, the PS5 Pro will be Sony’s most expensive console to date. Piers Harding-Rolls from research firm Ampere noted that the steep price is expected to spark substantial debate. Sony is clearly counting on the console’s advanced capabilities to attract gamers willing to invest in both the hardware and associated software.
Mark Cerny, the lead architect behind the PS5, praised the PS5 Pro as “the most powerful console we’ve ever built.” He highlighted that the PS5 Pro aims to eliminate the traditional trade-off between “fidelity mode,” which enhances visual quality, and “performance mode,” which improves gameplay smoothness. With this new console, Sony aims to offer a more seamless and high-quality gaming experience without forcing users to choose between visual fidelity and performance.
