The Sindh government has announced a new initiative named “Sasti Basti,” designed to provide affordable housing to the province’s underprivileged residents, according to a report by ARY News on Thursday.

The project was introduced during the 29th Governing Body meeting of the Human Settlement Authority’s annual budget, chaired by Najmi Alam, Advisor to the Chief Minister for Human Settlement Authority, Livestock, and Fisheries.

The meeting, which also included MPA’s Muhammad Yusuf Baloch and Aruba Rabbani, along with senior officials from Hyderabad and Sukkur, approved the annual budget and reviewed previous meeting minutes.

Najmi Alam emphasized that the “Sasti Basti” initiative aligns with the vision of party chairman Bilawal Bhutto, aiming to build homes for Sindh’s disadvantaged communities.

In addition, the meeting authorized the creation of demolition squads to address encroachments in Sindh’s slums.

This new initiative follows Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s launch of the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program earlier this month, which also seeks to offer affordable housing to Punjab’s residents.
