Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that the provincial government will begin drug testing in schools starting in July.
Previously, the minister had announced random drug testing in Karachi’s educational institutions.
According to Memon, random tests will be conducted on some students, and their identities will remain confidential. He mentioned that if a student tests positive, their parents will be informed, and the student will be asked about the source of the drugs.
However, no legal action will be taken against these students.
The minister also discussed improvements in street crime situations in Karachi, stating that the police will soon receive modern weapons for combating criminals.
Additionally, Memon mentioned setting up heatwave camps to assist those affected by extreme weather conditions.
He confirmed that meetings have been held to address rain emergencies across Sindh province and assured the public of the administration’s readiness to handle any challenges posed by severe weather.
