Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and his wife Ansha Afridi have celebrated the arrival of their first child, a baby boy named Ali Yar.
Family and Public Reaction
The joyous news was shared by the Afridi family on social media, prompting congratulations from fans and well-wishers worldwide. This event is particularly significant for the cricketing family, as former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Khan Afridi, Shaheen’s father-in-law, has become a grandfather for the first time.
Previous Reports and Cricket Schedule
In July, it was reported that Shaheen and Ansha were expecting their first child. At that time, Pakistan’s red ball coach Jason Gillespie had indicated that Shaheen might miss the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh due to the birth of their baby. Gillespie stated, “Shaheen can miss Bangladesh Test matches due to childbirth. We can give him [some] rest if he wants to stay with his wife till then.”
The first Test of Pakistan’s two-match series against Bangladesh began on August 21 in Rawalpindi.
