Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport is now part of the “Road to Makkah” project, a significant move for Hajj pilgrims heading to Saudi Arabia. This project aims to provide special services at the airport to make the journey to Hajj smoother.
Instead of completing immigration procedures in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims departing from Karachi will now undergo them at the Karachi airport. This change is expected to streamline the process and eliminate the need for immigration checks in Jeddah and Madina.
To facilitate Saudi immigration procedures, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has allocated space for two dedicated counters. This adjustment is anticipated to expedite immigration for Pakistani pilgrims, enhancing their overall experience.
Earlier, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud approved the “Road to Makkah” project at the Karachi airport. A Saudi delegation, led by Consul General Faleh Al-Rehaili, visited the airport to inspect facilities and discuss arrangements.
Meetings were held with airport security, immigration, and customs authorities to discuss processing requirements and procedures. The project, already operational in Islamabad, is expected to simplify immigration processes for pilgrims, ensuring a hassle-free journey.
