In a landmark initiative, Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar has awarded a record-breaking 520 million rupees in educational scholarships this year to 7,549 children of police employees. This funding supports their fees for various degree programs.
Dr. Anwar announced that last year, educational scholarships totaling 850 million rupees were granted, and this year’s budget for educational welfare will reach 1 billion rupees.
A spokesperson for Punjab Police revealed that 262 students pursuing PhD and MPhil degrees received over 21 million rupees in scholarships. Additionally, 277 students in MBBS and BDS programs were awarded more than 96.3 million rupees. Students enrolled in IT degree programs received scholarships totaling over 41.8 million rupees, while 115 engineering students were granted more than 14.1 million rupees.
Moreover, approximately 220 million rupees were allocated to 3,006 students enrolled in various BS Honors programs.
