Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s star javelin thrower, has been inundated with accolades and substantial rewards following his historic win—the country’s first Olympic gold medal in 40 years. Nadeem’s remarkable 92.97-meter javelin throw not only secured him gold but also a flurry of recognition and prizes from both government and private sectors.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a generous reward of Rs150 million for Arshad, with an additional Rs10 million designated for his coach, Salman Iqbal Butt. The prime minister also pledged to honor Nadeem with a civil award to celebrate his exceptional achievement.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif made a personal visit to Arshad’s home in Mian Channu, where she presented him with a cheque for Rs100 million. She also handed over the keys to a Honda Civic with the special number plate “PAK 92.97” and awarded Rs5 million to his coach.
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan added to the celebrations by announcing a separate cash reward of Rs2 million for Arshad Nadeem.
