In a significant move to enhance healthcare standards, Khawaja Imran Nazir, the Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, has announced a comprehensive revamp of dispensaries across Punjab. During a meeting in Lahore, Nazir outlined the strategy to reduce reliance on unqualified medical practitioners and elevate the quality of primary healthcare services.
Nazir’s announcement also includes a call for integrating private laboratories into a robust regulatory framework. This initiative aims to standardize practices and ensure that all diagnostic services meet stringent quality controls.
Dr. Saqib Aziz, Chief Executive Officer of the Punjab Healthcare Commission, provided a briefing on the Commission’s recent performance, highlighting its ongoing commitment to high-quality and safe healthcare facilities. In line with the Chief Minister’s directives, the board of the Punjab Healthcare Commission is set to be reconstituted soon.
The health ministers have also directed the regular monitoring of government hospital licensing and the implementation of measures against quackery. Additionally, they reaffirmed their commitment to the rapid construction of new regional offices and the central headquarters for the Punjab Healthcare Commission, further strengthening the province’s healthcare infrastructure.
