The Punjab Food Authority has stepped up its on-ground activities. Provincial Minister for Food, Bilal Yasin, stated that food safety teams have conducted raids and shut down facilities involved in packaging and selling expired goods.

During a raid at Transformer Chowk Shah Alam Market, authorities seized 3,400 kg of expired spices, 2,620 kg of kheer, 400 kg of Ispaghoul, 1,400 kg of spice packets, and 1,000 kg of packaging material.

Minister Yasin disclosed that expired food items were being rebranded under well-known labels. The crackdown was prompted by the absence of required records and documentation. These expired products were set to be distributed to small and large shops and hotels in Lahore and nearby areas after being repackaged attractively.

The Punjab Food Authority’s actions have thwarted the circulation of counterfeit food items, ensuring the health of Lahore’s residents. The minister also mentioned strict measures against hotels using low-quality raw materials. A specialized meat safety task force is conducting morning inspections and closely monitoring various city routes. Moreover, strict controls have been imposed on the sale of adulterated milk, diseased meat, and other fake products.
