The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested Amin-ul-Haq, a close associate of Al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden, as reported by ARY News.

At a news conference in Lahore, DIG CTD Usman Akram Gondal announced that Amin al-Haq, a key Al-Qaeda operative, was taken into custody yesterday. He mentioned that Amin al-Haq is on the list of terrorists wanted by the US and EU. The CTD has started an investigation and considers this arrest a major breakthrough.

In September 2019, then-US President Donald Trump confirmed that Hamza bin Laden, the son and heir of Osama bin Laden, was killed in a counter-terrorism operation. US media reported that Hamza was killed sometime in the past two years in an operation involving the United States. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper confirmed Hamza’s death last month, saying he understood that Bin Laden was dead.
