LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed officials to develop a detailed strategy for enhancing the export of pink salt, according to ARY News.

In a recent meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sharif, the focus was on maximizing revenue from pink salt and exploring the integration of modern technology for mineral extraction in Punjab. The Chief Minister emphasized the need to ban the export of raw pink salt and ensure the safety of mining workers.

Chief Minister Sharif highlighted the value of pink salt, stating, “We will not let the country’s precious reserves be sold at a low price. For Pakistan, pink salt is like treasure.”

The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Azma Zahid Bukhari, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtarzaman, Principal Secretary Sajid Zafar Dal, and Secretary Minerals Babar Aman Babar.

Previously, Pakistan and the American firm Miracle Saltworks Collective Incorporation signed an agreement in Islamabad to add value to Himalayan Pink Salt, aiming to boost its export. At the signing ceremony, then-Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar remarked that the $200 million investment represented a significant endorsement of Pakistan’s economic policies and investment environment.
