The Punjab government has announced a new glass train service between Rawalpindi and Murree. This decision came after a five-hour meeting led by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, where Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb outlined the Murree Development Project.
Key decisions made during the meeting include:
Hiring a foreign consultant to design the glass train service.
Restoring historical names for regions and sites, including Murree.
Relocating high-rise hotels blocking views along Mall Road, with a well-known hotel at GPO Chowk being moved.
Introducing a uniform facade and color scheme for heritage buildings to keep their historical look.
The provincial government will also handle approvals for changes to building regulations in Murree to ensure consistent development and conservation of the town’s natural and historical beauty.
