PSX Hits Record High, Crosses 70,500 for the First Time

On the first trading day of the week, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) did really well, hitting a big milestone.

The main index, called the KSE-100, went up by 229.86 points on Monday. This pushed it past the 70,500 points mark for the first time ever, ending the day at 70,544.58 points, which was higher than the previous day’s close of 70,314.72 points.

There was a lot of trading happening, with a total of 555,214,972 shares traded, valued at about Rs21.986 billion. This was way higher than the day before, which had 389,396,548 shares traded, valued at Rs17.273 billion.

A bunch of companies were active in trading, with 353 of them having their shares traded. Among these, 180 saw their share prices go up, showing that investors were feeling pretty positive.

On the flip side, 156 companies saw their share prices go down, while 17 didn’t change.

Some companies really stood out during trading. WorldCall Telecom, Fauji Cement, and Fauji Foods Limited got a lot of attention from investors. Bata Pakistan Limited saw the biggest increase in its share price, going up by Rs25 to close at Rs1,725.00. Sugar Engineering Works Limited also did well, going up by Rs23.19 to close at Rs493.46.

Overall, it was a good day for trading, with a positive vibe among investors and a lot of interest in the stock market.
