The district administration of Lahore has stepped up its efforts to control market prices, leading to a noticeable decrease in chicken and some vegetable prices.

Recent inspections conducted by the administration have reduced the price of chicken to Rs552 per kilogram. In the past 24 hours, authorities inspected 980 locations across the city, which resulted in three cases being filed, three arrests, and fines totaling Rs800,000 for 153 price violations.

Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC) Syed Musa Raza highlighted that strict measures are being taken against those violating price regulations.

In addition to the drop in chicken prices, the district administration has observed changes in vegetable prices. The cost of peas has decreased by Rs20, from Rs340 to Rs320 per kilogram. Conversely, onion prices have risen slightly by Rs5 to Rs145 per kilogram.

The prices of other essential vegetables, such as potatoes and tomatoes, have remained stable, with potatoes at Rs85 per kilogram and tomatoes at Rs100 per kilogram.

The DC welcomed the reduction in vegetable prices, viewing it as part of broader efforts to provide relief to citizens. He assured the public that the administration is diligently working to monitor and regulate market prices to prevent inflation and protect consumers from exploitation.

Recently, the district administration had issued a notification that saw an increase in the prices of several essential food items, including lentils, black gram, and besan, while reducing the prices of certain rice varieties and daal masoor by Rs25 per kilogram. The official price list also showed significant price increases for daal chana, black gram, and besan, with rises up to Rs55 per kilogram.
