The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has introduced a new policy for Pakistani students applying to foreign medical and dental programs starting in the 2024-2025 academic session.

Under the new policy, students must:

  • Score at least 60% in FSC (Pre-Medical) from Pakistan.
  • Achieve a minimum of 550 in each subject of SAT-II.
  • Pass a foreign MCAT/UCAT with at least 50% in Biology, Chemistry, and either Mathematics or Physics, or hold an equivalent Higher Secondary School Certificate.
  • Score at least 50% in the MDCAT in Pakistan, which is valid for three years for those who complete their intermediate education in Pakistan.

Additionally, students must attend an institution listed on the PMDC’s approved institutions list, recognized for allopathic medicine and accredited by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) or listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.

Students must obtain a PMDC Student Registration Certificate, complete a program with at least 6,200 instructional hours and 80% attendance over five years, and spend six months learning the local language if instruction is not in English. They must also pass the National Registration Examination by the PMDC for full registration.

Before going abroad, students must provide their residence details and contact numbers, secure a multiple-entry visa for the entire duration of their studies, and ensure their chosen institution meets the PMDC requirements.
