PM Shehbaz Sharif Pledges to Enhance Economic Growth and Stability in Pakistan

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his commitment to driving economic growth and stability in Pakistan. During a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, PM Sharif outlined his plan to boost productive employment, reduce expenditures, and address circular debt in the gas and power sectors.

He stressed the need for urgent progress in these areas and emphasized tackling evasion and corruption in revenue collection, as well as combating smuggling. The Prime Minister expressed confidence in the nation’s ability to reach its goals, given the seriousness and commitment towards these efforts.

PM Sharif assured that Pakistan will meet the IMF’s requirements and conditionalities on time, and he is optimistic that the IMF board will approve the country’s loan program. He also emphasized that this will be Pakistan’s final IMF program, underscoring the country’s aim to achieve self-reliance.

In addition, Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction with the recent decrease in inflation, noting that it fell to 9.6 percent in August, down from 27 percent during the same period last year.
