Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched a nationwide campaign to eradicate Hepatitis C, marking World Hepatitis Day with a call for collective action.
He announced free screening and treatment for all citizens and emphasized the importance of decentralizing testing and treatment centers to meet local needs.
The campaign aims to tackle the silent epidemic of Hepatitis C, which affects 10 million people in Pakistan. PM Shehbaz stressed the need for awareness, early diagnosis, and affordable treatment to prevent severe complications, including liver cancer.
He highlighted past achievements in the fight against hepatitis and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving public health.
