Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a big drop in airfares for Umrah pilgrims, as reported by ARY News.
From April 7 to 11, PIA will reduce airfares by 30 percent for passengers going to Jeddah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Dammam. Umrah pilgrims will also get a discount of up to 20 percent on fares.
The prices for economy class tickets have been cut to Rs 50,000. PIA recently paid off all its debts and dues. Before being privatized, the airline settled its financial losses and debts by transferring them to a holding company.
This move has caught the attention of investors in the aviation industry. PIA operates 170 flight routes every week across 20 countries. Officials said that around 150,000 passengers travel to Saudi Arabia via PIA.
