The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association had planned a nationwide strike at petrol pumps for one day but quickly canceled it after further discussion.
Chairman Abdul Sami Khan and other officials in Karachi announced the change, citing concerns about how the strike would affect tourists visiting northern areas as a major reason.
Khan noted their sympathy for the inconvenience caused to motorcyclists and other commuters who rely on petrol pumps. He also mentioned the challenges they faced due to government opposition to the strike.
The decision to cancel the strike shows the association’s responsiveness to public concerns and the complex relationship between the petroleum sector and the government.
