Petrol Prices May Drop by Rs. 10 from September 16

Pakistanis might see some financial relief soon, as petrol and diesel prices are expected to drop by about Rs. 10 per litre following the next review on September 15. This anticipated decrease comes after global oil prices fell by around $5 per barrel.

Currently, petrol is priced at Rs. 259.1 per litre, and diesel at Rs. 262.75 per litre. If the reduction goes ahead, it could ease the burden on middle and lower-income families struggling with high living costs due to inflation.

However, the impact on transportation fares and the cost of essential goods might take some time to materialize, as businesses and transporters usually need time to adjust their rates.

The reduction is hoped to lower the cost of daily necessities and make commuting more affordable. Yet, if the government decides to increase the petroleum levy, the price cut might be less substantial, potentially limiting the relief for consumers.
