A man of Pakistani descent is in critical condition after being set on fire at his store in Surrey, British Columbia, on Friday. Rahat Rao, who runs a currency exchange business in Surrey Central, was attacked by a man who threw a flammable liquid on him and then set him ablaze.

The directive says that TV channels have been using police uniforms in a disrespectful way, which has led to complaints from viewers. Pemra is concerned that such portrayals harm the image of the police.

Pemra has instructed TV channels to stop using police and other law enforcement uniforms in their comedy and satire content. They believe this misuse undermines the dignity of these uniforms.

Channels are reminded to follow the Pemra Ordinance 2002, Pemra Rules, and the Code of Conduct for Electronic Media (Programmes and Advertisements) 2015. Pemra warned that violations could lead to penalties, including the suspension of broadcast rights or license revocation.
