The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has struck a major deal by selling the naming rights of Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium for one billion rupees. This five-year agreement with a Punjab-based bank marks a significant achievement for the current PCB administration under Mohsin Naqvi.
The deal is more than double the 450 million rupees earned from the naming rights of Karachi’s National Stadium in 2022. That venue was rebranded as the National Bank Cricket Arena under a similar five-year contract, which continues until 2027.
This agreement is part of PCB’s broader strategy to boost revenue as it invests billions in upgrading stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi in preparation for the Champions Trophy. The rebranding of Gaddafi Stadium, a historic site in Pakistani cricket, reflects the increasing trend of sports venues adopting corporate names to generate additional income.
