Fees for 36, 72, 100-page MR passports valid for 10 years also increased
The passport office has recently announced significant increases in fees for fast-track passport categories, effective from May 8.
Under the new fee structure, a 36-page Machine Readable (MR) passport valid for five years will cost Rs12,500, while a 72-page passport for the same duration will be priced at Rs18,500. Additionally, a 100-page passport will now cost Rs23,000.
Furthermore, fees for 10-year validity MR passports of 36, 72, and 100 pages have also been raised.
In addition to these changes, the passport office has introduced new fees for expedited processing. Fast track fees for 100, 72, and 36-page passports will be Rs25,200, Rs32,000, and Rs16,200, respectively.
These revisions aim to streamline passport issuance processes and enhance service delivery.
Despite directives for passport offices to operate round the clock, the passport office in Garden Town, Lahore, has not initiated night shifts as directed, causing frustration among citizens.
In contrast, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi recently announced 24/7 passport services in Karachi and Lahore, aiming to revolutionize public access to passport facilities. Minister Naqvi highlighted the importance of this initiative in facilitating seamless access to passport services at any time.
In accordance with this decision, the Passport and Immigration Department issued a notification outlining three shifts for passport offices in Lahore and Karachi: 8am to 4pm, 4pm to 12am, and 12am to 8am, starting from May 7.
