Internet users in Pakistan will continue to experience slow speeds and disruptions for the foreseeable future, even beyond the deadline set by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
As the country faces its 21st day of slow internet, officials have indicated that full service restoration will take additional time. The PTA has attributed the issue to faults in two of the country’s seven submarine cables.
The repair of the AAE-1 cable is expected to be completed within the next day or two, which should bring some improvement. However, the SMW4 cable repair is anticipated to take a few more weeks.
Complete restoration of internet services will depend on the successful repair of both cables. Until then, users across the country will likely continue to face slow speeds and intermittent connectivity issues.
