Controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik is facing backlash on social media during his state visit to Pakistan. His remarks, particularly about advising single women seeking marriage, have sparked outrage and mockery among users.
Many Pakistanis took to social media to question the decision to invite him, with comments like, “Who invited him? Please don’t bring such illiterate people next time.” Another user remarked, “This is why Pakistanis wanted him here—to understand why he’s banned in India and other countries.”
Naik, currently residing in Malaysia, has been making headlines for his controversial statements throughout his nearly month-long tour of Pakistan. One user criticized his patronizing tone while answering a woman’s question, pointing out the potential dangers of his accusations in a society where blasphemy can lead to mob violence.
Others expressed their anger over his views on women, questioning whether he believes that single, divorced, or widowed women who choose not to remarry are somehow public property. “How can this man be considered a decent person or a religious scholar?” one user asked, accusing him of holding extremist views.
