Pakistani Sisters Win Gold Medals at International Weightlifting Championship
Pakistani sisters Sehar and Veronika Sohail have made history by winning gold medals at the Weightlifting Championship in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
Competing in the 52 kg and 57 kg categories, the sisters excelled in squat, bench press, deadlift, and overall weightlifting. Their victories bring Pakistan’s gold medal count at the Asian Pacific African Combined Weightlifting Championship to eight.
The Secretary of the Weightlifting Federation, Rashid Malik, praised their achievements as a significant source of national pride and a testament to Pakistan’s rising weightlifting talent. Their success is celebrated across the country, and their younger sister, Twinkle Sohail, will also compete on July 13.
Support from the Sports Board Punjab was crucial in helping the Sohail sisters compete internationally. As the championship continues, hopes are high for Twinkle Sohail and further success for Pakistan in weightlifting.
