ISLAMABAD: In a promising start to the fiscal year 2024-25, Pakistan generated $286.395 million from various Information Technology (IT) services exports in July, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). This marks an impressive growth of 33.84% compared to the $213.980 million earned in the same month last year.
Notably, the sector of computer services experienced a remarkable surge of 44.14%, jumping from $172.680 million in July 2023 to $248.899 million this year. Within this category, software consultancy services led the charge, increasing by 47.38% from $58.425 million to $86.103 million. Conversely, hardware consultancy services saw a decline of 30.68%, dropping from $0.440 million to $0.350 million.
Additionally, the export of repair and maintenance services skyrocketed by an astonishing 1302.14%, rising from $0.035 million to $0.490 million. The export and import of computer software services also experienced a slight increase of 1.08%, growing from $50.327 million to $50.868 million. Furthermore, other computer services recorded a growth of 75.14%, climbing from $63.453 million to $111.131 million.
The information services sector also showed positive momentum, with exports increasing by 47.50% from $0.300 million to $0.442 million. Among these, information-related services rose by 12.34%, while other information services saw a remarkable increase of 69.05%.
However, not all segments fared well; telecommunications services exports fell by 9.62%, decreasing from $41 million to $37.053 million.
