On Thursday, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) showcased the shortlisted designs for its upcoming series of banknotes, which will span denominations from Rs10 to Rs5,000 and are slated for release by the end of this year.

In its press release, the central bank commended the ingenuity of local artists who participated in the design competition. The new banknotes are now under the scrutiny of international designers who will finalize their look.

“The SBP is committed to ensuring that the new currency series embodies our nation’s rich cultural legacy and forward-thinking vision. We anticipate that the final designs will effectively represent this collaborative effort,” said the SBP.

The shortlisted designs, which highlight significant figures like Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Fatima Jinnah, will undergo further refinement.

International designers will collaborate closely with the SBP, incorporating the local designs while applying their expertise to perfect the final appearance.

Winners of the design competition will be awarded cash prizes, with details of the award ceremony to be announced by the SBP in the near future.
