Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sanam Javed has been granted protective bail in connection with the May 9 riots case by the Islamabad High Court. The court, led by Justice Miah Gul Hassan Aurangzeb, approved her plea and instructed the police not to arrest her until August 19, according to ARY News.
The protective bail follows earlier arrest warrants issued by the Anti-Terrorism Court. Although Javed’s request for exemption from court appearance was initially rejected, she was granted bailable arrest warrants instead.
Additionally, requests for exemption from court appearances by other PTI members, including Member of the National Assembly Rubina Jamil and Ayesha Ali Bhutta, were also denied.
On July 10, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had acquitted Javed in a separate case related to the May 9 riots, which was filed by the Gujranwala Cantonment Police.
The Islamabad High Court’s recent decision continues a series of legal proceedings involving PTI activists.
