ISLAMABAD: As Pakistan celebrated its 78th Independence Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced his intention to launch a comprehensive five-year economic program aimed at steering the country towards progress and stability.

Pakistan has been grappling with a prolonged economic crisis marked by mounting external debt, a weakening currency, and dwindling foreign exchange reserves. In an effort to avoid a balance of payments crisis, the country has sought assistance from regional allies and global financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund, to secure debt rollovers and loan programs to sustain its struggling economy.

During a ceremony in Islamabad, Prime Minister Sharif acknowledged the hardships faced by the public, including high inflation and unemployment, and emphasized the need for decisive action to address these challenges. The upcoming economic plan is expected to outline strategies to revive the economy, reduce inflation, and create job opportunities, setting Pakistan on a path to long-term growth and development.
