Pakistan has secured a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the term 2025-2026, following robust support in today’s elections conducted by the UN General Assembly in New York.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude towards all UN General Assembly members for their trust in Pakistan’s capability, acknowledging their role in electing Pakistan as a non-permanent member of the Security Council. The Ministry also thanked the Asia-Pacific Group for endorsing Pakistan’s candidature.

This marks Pakistan’s eighth term as a non-permanent member, reflecting its wealth of experience and significant contributions to international peace and security. Pakistan’s commitment to the UN Charter’s principles and its active involvement in UN peacekeeping and peacebuilding efforts worldwide were highlighted in the statement.

In the upcoming term, Pakistan pledges to pursue peaceful resolutions to disputes, oppose unilateral and illegal use of force, combat terrorism comprehensively, support effective UN peacekeeping, and contribute to resolving regional and global crises.

Pakistan eagerly anticipates collaborating closely with fellow UN Security Council members and the broader UN Membership to uphold the UN Charter’s principles, striving to prevent conflicts, promote peace, advance global prosperity, and ensure universal respect for human rights.
