The latest ICC rankings have brought exciting news for cricket fans, highlighting the remarkable performances of players from Pakistan and Afghanistan.

For Afghanistan, a historic ODI series victory against South Africa has propelled its stars into the spotlight. Young talent Rahmanullah Gurbaz has made headlines by scoring his seventh ODI century before turning 23, soaring ten spots to claim eighth place in the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings. This achievement makes him the first Afghan player to break into the top ten, surpassing Ibrahim Zadran’s previous best of twelfth, with a commendable rating of 692 points.

Joining Gurbaz in the rankings is Afghanistan’s star leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who has risen eight places to third in the ODI Bowling Rankings. His impressive seven-wicket haul in the series further showcases the growing prowess of Afghan cricket on the world stage.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan continues to impress, moving up from ninth to eighth in the ODI batting rankings. The wicketkeeper-batsman’s consistent performances underscore his vital role in the national team.

In the Test rankings, Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant made a thrilling comeback, landing in sixth place after a stellar century in India’s commanding win over Bangladesh in Chennai.

What do you think about these developments? Are we witnessing a new era in international cricket with rising stars from these nations?
