In response to the rising monkeypox cases in Congo and neighboring regions, the Pakistan Airport Authority has taken proactive measures to prevent the virus’s spread. A critical meeting is scheduled for tomorrow at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, convened by the Airport Manager and involving airlines and key stakeholders.
The meeting will focus on briefing attendees about enhanced passenger screening and other preventive protocols at the airport.
To address potential risks, any aircraft arriving with suspected monkeypox cases will undergo thorough disinfection. This process will be implemented in stages across all international flights.
Furthermore, an awareness campaign will be launched to educate airport staff and passengers on monkeypox prevention. The campaign will include a seminar offering detailed information and guidelines on mitigating the virus’s spread.
