Oil Tanker Crash Kills One and Causes Major Traffic Jam in Karachi

An oil tanker overturned on Karachi’s Baloch Colony Flyover early Thursday morning, killing one person and causing major traffic delays. The accident affected traffic on Korangi Road, Sharea Faisal, and Shahrah-e-Quaideen.

The driver of a vehicle crushed by the tanker died instantly. After three hours, a crane managed to lift his vehicle. The tanker, which was overloaded and had a detached engine, was carrying 60,000 liters of jet fuel. About 600 liters of this fuel spilled onto the road.

Authorities have struggled to remove the tanker because they need to drain the oil first. Meanwhile, people began collecting the spilled fuel. The fire brigade and police have warned people to stay away from the tanker due to the high risk of fire.

Traffic has been redirected as the Baloch Colony Flyover remains closed. Vehicles from Shaheed-e-Millat Road are being rerouted to Sharea Faisal, while those coming from Korangi are being directed to Akhtar Colony.
