Guillermo Söhnlein, co-founder of OceanGate, suggests that sending humans to Venus safely is feasible despite the planet’s challenging conditions. In an April blog post, he detailed his ideas, proposing the use of breathing apparatuses and acid-resistant materials to help humans adapt to Venus’s environment.
Söhnlein envisions human habitation approximately 50 kilometers above Venus’s surface, where conditions are more akin to those on Earth. He argues that sending humans to Venus could precede efforts to colonize Mars. He is now rallying scientists, explorers, and investors to join him in this ambitious initiative.
After departing OceanGate in 2020, Söhnlein founded the Humans2Venus Foundation and Space Bridge Partners, organizations dedicated to advancing space exploration. His vision includes developing innovative solutions for sustainable living in space and expanding human presence beyond Earth, contributing to the frontier of space exploration.
