The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed a fresh reference against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in connection with the Toshakhana case. The reference was submitted to an accountability court in Islamabad on Tuesday, and the Registrar’s Office has begun reviewing the newly filed case, which was presented by Investigating Officer Mohsin Haroon and Case Officer Waqar Hassan.
The new legal action follows a recent investigation at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, where both Khan and Bibi were interrogated. This development comes on the heels of a court decision from the previous day, which placed the couple in judicial custody. They are being investigated for allegedly misusing gifts received from foreign dignitaries during their tenure in office.
The fresh reference accuses Khan and Bibi of purchasing and subsequently selling a jewelry set valued at Rs75 million, which was reportedly obtained from the Toshakhana. This new case adds to the couple’s legal troubles, which had previously seen them acquitted in the Iddat case on July 13, only to face new charges shortly thereafter.
