The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted a significant wave of monsoon rains beginning August 14 and lasting through August 18.
During this period, widespread heavy rains are expected across the country, with thunderstorms and lightning anticipated in many areas. Regions like Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will experience considerable downpours, while coastal Sindh is likely to see lighter rain and partly cloudy skies, leading to a milder weather pattern there.
Major cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Faisalabad should prepare for consistent rainfall. Murree and Galyat might encounter strong winds alongside the rain. Additionally, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with parts of Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan, will also receive showers.
This forecast suggests that this monsoon season will be more intense than usual, reflecting broader trends of climate change affecting weather patterns in Pakistan. The increased rainfall could bring both challenges, like potential flooding, and benefits, such as replenishing water resources. Residents in the affected areas should stay updated and take necessary precautions as the monsoon season progresses.
